Most Copycat issues fall into one of four categories: vault creation, client sync, file copying, or licensing. Find your symptom below and follow the steps to resolve it.

Vault creation

If Copycat can’t connect to Google Drive, the vault creation process can’t start.
1

Sign out and reconnect

In Vault mode, click your Google account name and choose Sign Out. Then click Connect Google Account to start the sign-in flow again.
2

Grant Drive access

When the Google sign-in window appears, make sure you tick the Google Drive checkbox before clicking Allow. If you skip it, the connection will fail silently.
3

Retry

Return to Copycat and try creating a vault again.
Vault preview uploads fail when your Google Drive is full.
  1. Visit drive.google.com and free up storage by deleting unused files.
  2. Return to Copycat’s Vault Dashboard.
  3. Find the pending vault and click Resume — Copycat will continue from where it left off without re-uploading already-uploaded files.
Copycat saves vault progress automatically at each stage. You don’t need to start over.
  1. Open the Vault Dashboard (click View All Vaults).
  2. Locate the vault under Pending Vaults — it shows the last completed stage.
  3. Click Resume to continue.
If the vault shows a red error, check your internet connection and Drive storage before resuming.

Syncing client selections

Follow these steps in order:
  1. Confirm the vault link still opens in a browser — paste it in yourself to verify.
  2. Ask your client to press Submit after making their selections, if they haven’t already.
  3. Check your internet connection and click Sync Selections again.
  4. If the link has expired (vaults last 15 days), use Rotate Passphrase in the Vault Dashboard to generate a fresh link, then share it with your client.
  5. If the issue persists, note the exact error message and contact support.
The sync window for this vault has closed. Generate a new link using Rotate Passphrase in the Vault Dashboard — this creates a new passphrase and shareable link without re-uploading the photos. Share the new credentials with your client.
Your client may not have clicked Submit yet — selections are only transmitted when they submit. Ask your client to open the vault link, confirm their picks, and press Submit. Then sync again in Copycat.

Copying files

A Missing result means Copycat couldn’t find that filename in the source folder.
  • Confirm the RAW drive or folder is connected and accessible.
  • Check that the source folder selected in Copycat is the correct RAW archive.
  • If extension filters are set, verify they include the file types you expect (e.g., CR3, ARW). See File Filters.
If your source RAW folder has moved or is on an external drive that isn’t connected, Copycat shows a prompt to locate it.
  1. Connect the drive if it’s external.
  2. Click Relink RAW Folder when prompted.
  3. Navigate to and select the correct folder.
  4. Copycat retries the copy automatically.
  • Check that extension filters aren’t too restrictive — if set, they must match the actual file types in the source. See File Filters.
  • Confirm the source folder contains files with names matching your selection list.
  • Try enabling Case-Insensitive Matching in Settings if filenames differ in case between the selection list and source.

Licensing

Your 7-day trial period has ended. Purchase a license at copy-cat.in and activate it in the app under License.
Each email address can only start one trial. If you’ve already used a trial key, you’ll need to purchase a full license at copy-cat.in.
Your license is already active on the maximum number of devices. To activate on a new machine, open Copycat on one of your existing devices, go to License, and click Deactivate. Then activate on the new device.
Vault mode requires an active, non-expired license. If you’re on a trial, ensure it hasn’t expired. If you don’t have a license, purchase one at copy-cat.in.
