How the app and website handle data, including Vault and Google Drive access.
CopyCat Privacy Policy

At CopyCat, we respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when using CopyCat, including the Vault feature, Google Sign-In, and Google Drive access.
1. Information We Collect
From the App (Local Use)
CopyCat processes the file names and folders you select on your computer to perform its core functions, such as finding, organizing, and copying files.
This processing happens locally on your device. CopyCat does not upload your files, filenames, or folder contents to our servers unless you explicitly use a cloud-connected feature such as Vault.
Vault Feature
- Files you explicitly select for upload.
- File names, folder paths, timestamps, and basic metadata needed to organize and retrieve your Vault content.
- Storage and sync status information.
Google Sign-In and Google Drive
If you sign in with Google or connect Google Drive, we may access the account information and file metadata you authorize us to use so we can provide the requested feature.
2. How We Use Information
- Activate and verify your license key.
- Create and manage your account.
- Enable Vault uploads, storage, syncing, and retrieval.
- Provide customer support and important product updates.
3. Google API Data Use
If you connect Google Sign-In or Google Drive, CopyCat’s use of information received from Google APIs will comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements where applicable.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Local file processing happens on your device.
- Vault content you choose to upload is stored on secure infrastructure used to operate the feature.
- We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration.
5. Third-Party Services
- Payment processing providers.
- Google services such as Google Sign-In and Google Drive APIs.
- Cloud storage and infrastructure providers used for Vault.
- Analytics tools used to understand general product usage.
6. Your Choices and Controls
- Choose whether or not to use Vault.
- Choose whether or not to sign in with Google.
- Revoke CopyCat’s access to your Google account at any time through your Google account permissions.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold, request a copy of your stored data, object to certain processing, and opt out of non-essential communications.
8. Children’s Privacy
CopyCat is not directed to individuals under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time by updating the Effective Date and, where appropriate, through email or in-app notice.
